It was disclosed in the December edition of Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Flapper that Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear, a manga by Masume Yoshimoto, will wrap up its publication in the December 5, 2023 issue of the magazine.

The adventure of this manga began in 2013 when Yoshimoto published it in the pages of Monthly Comic Flapper. Later, in 2014, Kadokawa broadened its audience by putting the series on their web comic platform, ComicWalker. On June 22 of this year, Kadokawa published the manga’s 19th collected volume.

This manga was first made available to readers in North America by One Peace Books, who published the eighth volume in 2018. One Peace Books describes the manga’s first volume as suitably as possible:

Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear Manga

Fourteen-year-old Machi has lived her whole life in the tranquil embrace of the Tohoku Mountains, acting as a miko there. She is accompanied by a talking bear by the name of Natsu. She has been shielded from the complexities of contemporary life.

Still, she can’t help but be drawn in by this mysterious world and is determined to find out all of its mysteries. Her bear friend Natsu does a great deal to prepare her for the difficulties she would face in the busy metropolis, resulting in a humorous story that follows the coming-of-age journey of a rural Japanese girl.

This manga’s television anime adaptation debuted in 2016, and Funimation streamed the episodes as they aired in Japan.

Barakamonto might also be perfect for you if you like the endearing and eccentric animation Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear. Both shows feature sweet tales that take place in rural areas and center on the development of their lovable main characters.Like the rural setting of Kuma Miko, Barakamon revolves around a calligrapher who relocates to an isolated island community. Apart from Kuma Miko, Yoshimoto also debuted Mah Sh jo Omatsu (Magical Girl Omatsu) in the pages of Young Magazine the 3rd, a manga magazine published by Kodansha that is no longer in publication. That was back in 2017. Two volumes of this manga were later released by Kodansha in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
