The main and preliminary card lineups for UFC 295 are excellent, making it an incredible show. We all hope that this fight, which seems like a jewel on paper and has two title matches, will live up to the hype in real life. And dare I claim that the card didn’t suffer much, if at all, even in the absence of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic?
Preview
The type of authorized violence that dreams are made of is Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira. There isn’t a single MMA fan in the world who would want to miss this fight, since neither of the two fighters is particularly known for their defensive skills. I would be genuinely shocked if this one made it to the score cards. Just recall the fight between Volkan Oezdemir and Prochazka. Jiri was willing to dive in headfirst and came perilously near to finishing.
Pereira is equally ready to go headfirst into the phone booth and take risks. That’s not how it’s done with Prochazka. There should be plenty of reasons for Alex to keep his figurative dukes up after 25 knockouts. The lesson here is not to give Sleepytown an open highway, not that he lacks the ability to startle people with his own collar.
Let’s see how both men compare in terms of numbers and facts:
Jiri Prochazka
- Former UFC LHW champion
- Age: 31
- Record: 29-3 (25 KOs)
- Longest UFC streak: 3
- Last opponent: Glover Teixeira
- 2 POTN, 2 FOTN
Alex Pereira
- Former UFC MW champion
- Age: 36
- Record: 8-2 (6 KOs)
- Longest UFC streak: 4
- Last opponent: Jan Blachowicz
- 3 POTN
